The Executive Chairman of Abeokuta North Local Government, Hon. Dr. Lanre Oyegbola-Sodipo, on Thursday, July 31, 2025, hosted a strategic stakeholders meeting with Community Development Associations (CDAs) across the Local Government Area. The engagement, held at the Abeeb Ajayi Multi-Purpose Hall, Akomoje, was convened to foster collaboration and chart a new course for sustainable development.

In his address, Dr. Oyegbola-Sodipo reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to fulfilling promises made during his campaign. He highlighted a range of impactful projects executed under his leadership — over 17 across the 16 Wards of Abeokuta North, directly benefiting more than 80 Communities. These include:
Ventilated Improved Public Toilets – Constructed to improve hygiene and sanitation.
Solar-Powered Boreholes – Providing clean and safe water access.
Solar Electrification Projects – Enhancing lighting in public spaces and homes.
Construction of Classrooms – Improving access to quality education.
Youth Empowerment Initiatives – Skill acquisition and support for self-reliance.
Care for the Aged Programmes – Providing support and welfare for elderly residents.

he Chairman further interacted with CDA representatives, addressing their concerns and recommendations. He announced the upcoming launch of a “Community Development and Think Tank Group” — a collaborative initiative designed to work closely with his office to proffer solutions to pressing issues in communities.
Representatives who spoke during the session included Mrs. Somide Anthonia (Oke-Ona CDC), Mr. Musibau Showale (Obasa), Mr. Abdul Azeez Olaide (Agbo-Eran CDA, Ilupeju), and Mr. Dele Abati (Owu CDA), among others.
In his goodwill remarks, the Vice Chairman, Hon. Taiyelolu Egbeyemi, thanked CDA leaders for their support and understanding. He reiterated the administration’s determination to deliver the dividends of democracy to all communities in Abeokuta North.
Due to an official engagement with the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, the Chairman announced that the next phase of the CDA engagement would be held in September 2025.
The meeting signaled a renewed commitment to grassroots development, accountability, and transparency. As one CDA leader aptly put it, “We are optimistic about the future of our Communities under Dr. Oyegbola-Sodipo’s leadership.” Time will reveal how this optimism translates into visible transformation.
