The department is saddled with the responsibility of generating revenue and expenditure to the Local Government. It is headed by the Treasurer who performs the duties of Chief Accounting Officer and Financial Adviser.
The department also performed other duties, which include:
1. That all instructions relating to expenditure of Public Funds are properly documented.
2. Custodian of security documents of the Local Government.
3. Controlling and supervising the accounts of all the departments of the Local Government.
4. Preparing and rendering of Monthly and general purpose financial statement of the Local Government in compliance with the International Public Sector Account Standard (IPSAS)
