Speaking during the visit, the State Director of NPC, Dr. Olayinka Adenuga, gave detailed clarifications on the processes for obtaining birth and death certificates as well as attestations. He explained that individuals under 18 years of age are entitled to birth certificates, while those above 18 require attestation. He also highlighted the benefits of birth registration, such as the provision of accurate population data, equitable allocation of resources, and documentation for nationality and citizenship.
Dr. Adenuga further disclosed the introduction of the Electronic Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (ECRVS) platform, an online system designed to simplify birth registration, certificate issuance, and attestation. While still undergoing improvements, he noted that the system will make certificates easier to authenticate and evaluate.
