
In the spirit of celebrating Christmas which reflects the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Executive Chairman, Abeokuta North Local Government, Hon. Oyegbola-Sodipo has called on the residents and members of staff to embrace peaceful co-existence, harmony and attitudinal change for the development of the Local Government and beyond. The theme of this Year’s Christmas Carol is “Celebrating Jesus, Our Hope” and it’s of 9 lessons which was read by the Council’s Chairman as well as other Prominent Personalities.
They made the call during the 17th Christmas Carol/End of the Year Thanksgiving Service held at Oba Odeleye Park, Ori-Omi Ita Iyalode Owu, Abeokuta on Tuesday 10th December, 2024.The Annual Event was organized by the Council’s Christian Fellowship in collaboration with the Local Government and was described as a special programme to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ.
He added that “We need to change our mindset in the advanced Year 2025 and embrace peace, love, godliness and be our brothers’ keeper at all times.
“It is when we embrace all of these virtues that we are sure of peace, divine favour and a better society that we can all be proud of” he said.
The Council Boss stated further that his Led-Administration would ensure to embark on developmental programmes and policies that will provide amenities and infrastructures for the benefit of all inhabitants which would hitherto enable the return of the Local Government to a safe haven.
Oyegbola-Sodipo who used the event to demonstrate love by celebrating the birthday of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Chairman in the Local Government, Alhaja Faidat Sarumi Akintunde admonished the entire people of the Council Area to remain peaceful with one another and Godly, adding that the season is for all to reconcile, love and embrace peaceful co-existence.
In his earlier Sermon, the Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) for the Local Government Area Rev. (Dr.) Tinuoye stressed that Christmas periods must be used to reflect changes as it was exemplified by our Lord Jesus Christ and as such everybody must embrace peace in the country in order to move forward. He added that, this is the time everyone should pray for the country and by doing that he believes God in His infinite mercies will answer our prayer while the Country will be a better place for all and sundry.
The event featured praises, worships and special performances from the Host Choir, Ayanjesu Singer and also a Drama Presentation by the members of the Local Government National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
Among those that present were the, Vice Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Taiyelolu Egbeyemi, Leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Erubami Moruf Ajani, other Legislators, Head of Local Government Administration (HOLGA); Mrs Kikelomo Munirat Ajayi, Directors/ Heads of Departments, Unit Heads and other members of staff.
Others include the APC Party Chairman, Alhaja Faidat Sarumi Akintunde who was ably represented by Alhaji Ganiyu Olanrewaju Saba, former Full-time Commissioner 1 in Ogun Local Government Service Commission; Hon. Lukmon Femi Adiro, Engr. Seni Ayorinde, Major Adejimi, Chief Wole Ayorinde and all the APC Party Chieftains in the Local Government also graced the occasion.
