
The Abeokuta North Local Government has ushered in the year 2026 with an interdenominational prayer session, seeking divine guidance, protection and greater achievements for the council in the new year.
The prayer programme was organised by the management of the Local Government in collaboration with the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Abeokuta North Chapter, under the leadership of Comrade Abiodun Karunwi.
The session, which took place at the Hon. Abeeb Ajayi Multi-Purpose Hall, Council Secretariat, Akomoje, Abeokuta, was led by the Executive Chairman of Abeokuta North Local Government, Dr. Lanre Oyegbola Sodipo, who was ably represented by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Taiyelolu Egbeyemi.
He was accompanied by Supervisors and the Head of Local Government Administration, Mrs. Kikelomo Munirat Ajayi.
In his keynote address, Dr. Oyegbola expressed deep appreciation to the management team, NULGE executives and the entire workforce for their unwavering support, perseverance and the achievements recorded by the Local Government in the year ended.
The Council Chairman charged staff across all departments to demonstrate increased diligence, commitment and professionalism in their service delivery, stressing that collective effort was key to taking Abeokuta North Local Government to greater heights.
He further assured workers that his administration would continue to prioritise staff welfare and would do everything possible to improve their working conditions in the new year.
The interdenominational prayer session, conducted in both Christian and Islamic traditions, reflected the spirit of unity and peaceful coexistence among staff. It was well attended by workers from the Council Secretariat and various house stations.
Dignitaries present at the event included the Vice Chairman, Hon. Taiyelolu, Egbeyemi, Supervisors, Special Advisers, Special Assistants, Head of Local Government Administration, Mrs Kikelomo Munirat Ajayi, Directors, Heads of Department, Unit heads, Nulge Executives, NLC and other members of staff.
