In a major stride toward inclusive governance and sustainable urban planning, the Abeokuta North Local Government today inaugurated an All-Parties Committee to oversee the enumeration, delineation, and numbering of all streets, lanes, closes, roads, and avenues within the local government area.
The initiative, described as strategic and people-centered, is designed to ensure that every part of Abeokuta North is effectively mapped and captured in a comprehensive address and identification framework. This project marks another milestone in the administration’s commitment to inclusivity, transparency, and data-driven development.
The inauguration ceremony brought together community stakeholders including Baales, representatives of the Community Development Councils (CDC), councilors, and career officers—all joining forces to define the framework for the mapping exercise. Their collective participation underscores the local government’s emphasis on collaborative governance and citizen engagement.
Speaking during the event, the Chairman of Abeokuta North Local Government, Hon. Dr. Lanre Oyegbola-Sodipo, reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to foster inclusivity and digital transformation in governance. According to him, “this exercise will not only enhance the proper identification of our communities but also provide essential Know Your Community (KYC) data to aid effective planning, service delivery, and equitable distribution of amenities.”
He further emphasized that the street enumeration and mapping project is critical for improving the provision of basic infrastructure, strengthening local administration, and ensuring that development efforts reach every ward and community within the council area.
The Chairman noted that this initiative aligns with the ISEYA development agenda of the Ogun State Governor, His Excellency Prince (Dr.) Dapo Abiodun, CON, which promotes Inclusiveness, Social Welfare, Education and Empowerment, Youth Development, and Agricultural Advancement.
Inaugurating the committee, Hon. Oyegbola-Sodipo charged the members to deliver on their mandate with diligence, accuracy, and fairness, noting that the outcome of their work will serve as a valuable database for both present and future developmental planning in Abeokuta North.
The event concluded with a renewed call for cooperation among all residents and community leaders to support the exercise for the greater good of the local government and its people.
