It was an epoch making event on Thursday 13th March, 2025 in Abeokuta North Local Government, Akomoje as the supervisors together with special advisers were appointed and swore – in by the Executive Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. (Dr) ‘Lanre Oyegbola – Sodipo while he charged them to be dutiful in their embarked assignments.
The event which witnessed the oath of office and oath of allegiance taken by the newly appointed supervisors and special advisers officiated by clerk of the House, Mr Olusola Faremi.
The newly sworn in members were;
- Mr Azeez Adedigba – supervisor.
- Mr Soetan Gbenga – supervisor.
- Mr Akinbowale Femi- supervisor.
- Mr Hassan Olawale Kabir – supervisor.
- Mr Adepegba Adisa Lukmon – supervisor.
Others were:
- Mr Solomon Akibo – special Adviser.
- Mr Afeez Shokunle – special adviser.
- Mr Ogunkunle Ibrahim Adewale – special adviser.
- Mr Lukmon Adesina Balogun – special adviser.
The Council boss, Dr Lanre Oyegbola- Sodipo while delivering his speech at the ceremony appreciated, the Executive arm, the Legislative arm of the Council in particular the Vice Chairman, Hon.Taiyelolu Egbeyemi for his effort in bringing drastic change to the Local Government Area since the inception of office, likewise gave kudos to all the APC Party leaders for their leadership roll fashioned toward success.
Dr Oyegbola also emphasised his gratitude to God for the opportunity to be at the forefront of what God is set to do in Abeokuta North Local Government as he decided to write and circulate his speech for posterity sake.
” This is not just an opportunity, it is a responsibility, a responsibility that has to come with privilege granted by God and with the trust of our leaders and people, evidenced in the commitment shown by our leader and Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON.
The endorsement of the Governor for all Candidates to contest the last Local Government elections won decisively by our great party the ALL Progressive Cogress is what we are extending to all the appointees to be sworn in today.
Opportunity are given most of the times not only because we merit it, but just that fate has made it so.
What we do with the opportunity is then a responsibility. A responsibility to decide to embrace the little and make it so great. To look beyond now and push the boundaries for greatness with that which opportunity of today has provided.
Now, you have an opportunity, it’s your responsibility to do something with it. My counsel is, do something great with this opportunity “, said Dr Oyegbola.
The Council Chairman further charged the appointee to put in mind the saying credited to former president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 🇳🇬, General Muhammad Buhari, GCFR that ” I am for nobody, I am for everybody ” ,he stressed further, we are here to serve for the sake of the governance, to provide the best to all as the government is about the people and not the group.
Oyegbola however said in terms of reward to commitment and loyalty youths are being neglected.
He however stated that with the goal to drive inclusive development and governance to the grassroot we shall soon announce the appointment of Community Laision officers ( CLO’S ).
The Council boss therefore appreciated all the special assistant earlier announced during his inaugural ceremony for their commitment since then, likewise the faithful party men who stood by him since he assumed office, who worked with their hearts and committed personal funds without any form of compensation.
” I wish to use this opportunity to formally declare that they are now officially being engaged, re affirmed Dr Oyegbola. He concluded by acknowledging the support from the party leaders across board”, ” we couldn’t have done all we have done without your support and counsel”.
In his acceptance speech on behalf of other appointees, Mr Azeez Adedigba said, we accept the offer in good faith and in accordance to the assignment given to us without fear or favour in reference to the oath of office and of allegiance.
Alhaji Bakai Okedara also appreciated the Executive Chairman, Dr ‘Lanre Oyegbola and all party leaders for their supportive roles. He further advised the newly appointees in making efforts to move the Local Government forward and make it the best among others as ANLG has been at the forefront of leadership in Ogun State Politics at Large and wished them the best of luck in their new appointment.
Moreover, the APC organising Secretary in Ogun State Cum Party Leader in ANLG, Hon.Yemi Adelani charged the newly sworn in supervisors and special advisers to exhibit their total submission towards the progress of the Council.
” You are called to serve so try to strive with all your strength to achieve your goals and aspiration by concentrating on your core duty as you all display your ideas in moving the Local Government to the greater heights “.
He also seek for collaboration saying that a tree can’t make a forest.
Hon. Adelani added that ” My own organising secretary is am exemplary among others “. He therefore urged the appointees to justify their appointment because they were opportuned to be chosen among the multitude.
” It is an Honour bestowed on you, so use it wisely because Dr Oyegbola is not a sleeping person “.
Faces at the ceremony were; The vice chairman, Hon.Taiyelolu Egbeyemi, Leader of the House, Hon. Moruf Erubami and other Legislative members, the Head of Local Government Administration, Mrs Kikelomo Munirat Ajayi, Princess Ojaronke Ogunremi, Hon. Lukmon Femi Adiro, Hon.Wole Ayorinde, Sec. LG Education Authority, Alhaji Bakai Okedara.
Others were: Comrade Lawal, special adviser to the Governor on youth, Mrs Bola Labode, Chief (mrs) Olasupo, Directors/HOD’S, and other APC Party stalwarts in ANLG.
