
The Chairman of Abeokuta North Local Government, Hon. Dr. Lanre Oyegbola Sodipo, an unwavering son of the Egba soil and a true embodiment of Egba values, has been formally inducted as a member of the prestigious Abeokuta Club during its 50th Anniversary Celebration, held yesterday in Abeokuta.
The golden jubilee celebration, which marked five decades of service, unity, and cultural pride, provided a fitting platform to honour Hon. Dr. Sodipo, whose life, leadership, and public service are deeply rooted in Egba land, its traditions, progressive ideals, and communal spirit. His induction was widely described as a recognition of a complete Egba man—one who upholds the heritage, dignity, and developmental aspirations of Egbaland.
The well-attended ceremony attracted prominent personalities from within and outside Ogun State, including the former Governor of Ogun State, Chief Olusegun Osoba, CFR, and former Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, CON. Also present were the Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Alayeluwa Oba (Dr.) Michael Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, and the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Alayeluwa Oba (Prof.) Saka Adelola Matemilola, Oluyalo-Otileta VII.
Other distinguished guests included the Senator representing Ogun Central, Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salisu, and the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, who was ably represented by Hon. Femi.
In his remarks, Hon. Dr. Lanre Oyegbola Sodipo expressed profound gratitude to the leadership and members of the Abeokuta Club, describing his induction as a great honour and a reaffirmation of his lifelong commitment to the progress, unity, and cultural heritage of Egbaland.
