The Executive Chairman, of Abeokuta North Local Government, Prince Adebayo Abdulsallam Ayorinde has promised better days for the entire staffers of Abeokuta North Local Government.

Ayorinde made this promise during the interactive meeting with the members of the council workforce, held at Olumo Multipurpose hall In the council secretariat Akomoje on Wednesday 11th January 2023.

The meeting tagged, “Gathering of Equals “ was very interactive with the council boss urging staff to be free to express their grievances with the assurance that the meeting would definitely bring a positive solution to all issues that may be discussed. While delivering his keynote address, the Head of Local Government Administration, Alhaji Abayomi Saubana Lemboye, enjoined the staff to take the advantage of rare privilege given to them, stressing that they should not misuse the opportunity.

The astute administrator also used the occasion to appreciate the executive chairman, Prince Adebayo Abdulsalam Ayorinde for the platform created to allow the members of staff to bear things that were bothering their minds and chart a positive way to move the local government to greater heights.

As expected, several requests were tabled before the chairman and grey areas that needed clarifications. Amongst the requests were the need to provide social amenities, free health care facilities for the staff as well as providing necessary working tools, ranging from stationary materials, printers, photocopier machines, and scanners to prevent leakage of official documents when patronizing private business centers as a result of the absence of these types of equipment in the local government.

At the meeting, an appeal was made through the council chairman to remind His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, MFR, the governor of Ogun State to fulfill the promises made to civil servants in the state, regarding payment of leave bonus which according to the governor, will commence from January 2023. The issue of stagnation in the promotion of staff also formed part of the issue raised for the governor’s attention.

Responding, the council helmsman assured them that work would soon commence on providing a befitting toilet and borehole that would be completed within two weeks of the commencement of the projects. He lamented the paucity of funds that may serve as a hindrance to most of the requests made by staff. However, as a way out, he constituted some committees to see to the generation of more revenue into the coffer of the council and to as well come up with ideas that would be of great benefit to the people of the council area.

The chairman, therefore, expressed his gratitude to His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, MFR, for his relentless efforts in making life better for the people in the gateway state, while urging members of staff to vote massively for All Progressive Congress (APC) candidates from federal, state and local government levels in the forthcoming general elections in February 2023.

The chairman of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, Abeokuta North Local Government branch, comrade Okanlawon Olawale in his vote of thanks, appreciated the council boss for sacrificing his time to hold a meeting with staff.
He expressed fear and hope that the new ideas generated by staff would not be hijacked by the state government.
