Chairman, Abeokuta North Local Government Akomoje, Dr. ‘Lanre Oyegbola-Sodipo on Thursday 10th of April 2025 has presented Budget size of Seven billion, Six Hundred and Forty-Five million, nine hundred three thousand, nine hundred and forty seven naira and sixty-two Kobo ( N7, 645, 903, 947.62k) only to the Local Government Legislative Arm for consideration and approval.
This, he said it represents an increase of 19.6 % compare to 2024 approved Budget which was of the tune of Six billion, One hundred and Seventy – Nine Thousand, Nine hundred an twenty-eight naira and twenty two Kobo(N6, 245, 479, 928.22k) 2025 Draft Budget.
The proposed 2025 budget estimates tagged “Budget of Hope and Prosperity” presented to the Legislators of the Local Government is aimed to be expectant of good fortunes of the Local Government Area most expecially in the area of welfarism, development and transformation of the entire Local Government Area.
The Council helmsman, Dr. Oyegbola-Sodipo said the Local Government has laid important foundation for the development over the past Months with various development in Infrastructure, Security, Skill acquisition program, Clean environment, majorly improving in the ease of doing business and finally by growing the Internally Generated Revenues of the Local Government.
“We must focus upon increasing the momentum and finishing strongly; by so doing, delivering elevated economic and development for all,” Oyegbola-Sodipo charged.
Dr. Oyegbola-Sodipo analytically explained further that the expenditure consists with Capital Expenditure of One Billion, Three hundred and eight -nine million naira ( N1,389,000,000.00k) only being 18.5% while one billion and seven million, five hundred and then thousand naira (1,0007, 520,00.00k) only amounting to 13.2% was proposed for recurrent Expenditure (overhead) personal cost, made up of salaries and allowances, is one billion, Two hundred and thirty -four million, three hundred and Ninety-three thousand, nine hundred forty-seven naira and sixty-two Kobo (N1,234,393,947.62k) while consolidated fund charges stand at four billion and fifteen million naira (N4, 015,000,000.00k) only.
The Leader of the Legislative Arm in the LG, Hon. Moruf Erubami in his remarks promised that Budget of Hope and Prosperity would be scrutinised by the lawmakers before its approval in the house.
He said that the budget would borne out to bring developmental growths and relieved burden of the people. He assured that members of the Legislative Arm of the Local Government are committed to the development of both people and Local Government at large.
Present at the occasion were the Vice Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Taiyelolu Egbeyemi, other 15 Legislators of the LG, Secretary to the Local Government, Engr. Mutiat Agbaje, Head of the Local Government Administration of the LG, Mrs. Kikelomo Ajayi, the Supervisors, Special Advisers of the Local Government, Directors/Heads of Department, Unit Heads in the Local Government.
